As an entrepreneur, we know the importance of staying ahead of the game. We want to stay on top of things and keep ahead of the competition. But then, let’s be serious, what game and what competition are we talking about?
Things are changing so rapidly around us with all the different apps that are popping up that can ease the challenges that we entrepreneurs face.
So, what do we do?
Never Stop Learning:
One of the best ways to stay on top of any situation is to keep learning. One of the keys to successful entrepreneurship — and success at life in general — is the ability to accept new information and use it effectively. Business is always changing, and we need to learn new methods to deal with those changes.
Take Risk; Embrace Failure:
If we want to stay on top of our game as an entrepreneur, we need to be willing to take risks and we need to know that sometimes we will fail. Overcoming that failure, and knowing what risks to take and when, can ultimately set us apart from the competition and lead to long-term success.
For Example, I was burnt by hiring wrong people. They are not bad, just not right skill sets for my business. Now I know better.
If we are constantly distracted by emails, social media, and the agendas of others, we will never be able to get anything done. We need to set our priorities – making time for what matters to us, for the business and our personal life. like health and relationships.
How to eliminate all the distractions and look for only those opportunities that are helpful for us.
For me, painting is my passion, I long to be in that zone. Giving up that priority, and being constantly bombarded by work pressures has caused a big health set back recently, Now I am more conscious of my time and my priorities. In fact, I am more productive I should say.
Ready to WORK:
If we want to stay on top of our game as an entrepreneur, we need to be ready to WORK. While there are elements of luck, talent, and opportunity involved in running a successful business, there is no substitute for hard work but then we must also be smarter. We need to be aware of the resources around us and use them effectively. We also need to know when it’s time to take a break and re-charge. Work hard, but also be ready to relax and allow inspiration to come.
The most important aspect of being an entrepreneur is forming a support group. People who know you, know your line of business, know the kind of assistance you need, can help you to find the next best thing to grow your business.
Be always on the look-out for people who inspire you, who you see have that talent you admire. It can be someone in our family, friends, peers, network, church. When you see something that inspire you, have coffee with them and get to know them a little more.
As you learn, and as you apply the lessons in your life and business, you can stay one step ahead.
Hope these tips encourages you to stay on top of your game as an entrepreneur, and wish you many years of success ahead!
